Livonia Voters Reject Bond Proposal, Advance Four City Council Candidates

Livonia, MI – Voters headed to the polls on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, to participate in the city’s primary election. With all 26 precincts reporting and absentee ballots fully counted, results show a clear direction on both the City Council At-Large race and the proposed Municipal Facilities Bond.

City Council At-Large Race

In a crowded field of candidates, voters selected four to advance to the November General Election. The top four vote-getters are:

• Kathleen E. McIntyre – 7,999 votes
• Robin Persiconi – 7,632 votes
• Steve King – 6,977 votes
• Kayleigh Kavanagh Reid – 6,281 votes

These candidates will appear on the November ballot, while others in the 18-person field were eliminated, including Patrick Brockway (5,810), Eileen McDonnell (5,746), and Jenny O’Connor (5,301).

Bond Proposal Defeated

The Municipal Facilities Bond Proposal failed to gain voter approval. The ballot initiative, which would have funded improvements to city infrastructure and facilities, was rejected by a significant margin:

• No – 18,140 votes (~67%)
• Yes – 9,028 votes (~33%)

The proposal’s defeat reflects public reluctance toward new municipal borrowing or increased taxes for facility upgrades.
