Grit, Growth, and Leadership Define Franklin High School’s 2025 Cross Country Season

LIVONIA11/15/2025

Overview

The Fall 2025 cross country season was one of resilience, teamwork, and quiet determination for the Livonia Franklin Patriots, as both the girls’ and boys’ teams closed out a year shaped by adversity—and made stronger because of it.

Girls Team: 5–2 Despite Injuries and Adversity

The Franklin girls cross country team wrapped up their season with an impressive 5–2 record, a testament to their depth, grit, and strong team culture.

Coach Bethany Voss said the squad battled injuries to several key runners, but what could have fractured a less united group only seemed to strengthen this one.

“We’ve struggled with injuries in some key members, but everyone keeps working hard and takes care of each other.” — Coach Bethany Voss

Leading the way was Kinsey Nordbeck, the team’s solo senior, who set the tone with consistency and leadership both in practice and on race day.

“Kinsey has been leading the way both on and off the course. This team is a lot of fun and a great example of what a cross country team should be.” — Coach Bethany Voss

Boys Team: Youthful Roster Shows Significant Progress (3–4)

The boys finished the season 3–4, but the record belies steady improvement across a young roster and challenging matchups.

Seniors Owen Brown and Cameron Warren provided leadership and helped the team continue to drop time throughout the season.

One standout was sophomore Liam Trumpower, who made major progress and is positioned for a strong track season.

“Liam made huge strides and is set up for a great track season. We’re looking forward to watching him continue to work hard and see the results.” — Coach Bethany Voss

Season Takeaways

Though both teams faced hurdles, Coach Voss emphasized that the 2025 season strengthened the Franklin cross country program as a whole:

  • The girls demonstrated resilience and unity.
  • The boys showcased growth and potential.
  • Both teams embodied perseverance, discipline, and camaraderie.

As the teams shift to winter training and prepare for the track season, the Patriots leave Fall 2025 proud of their progress and optimistic about what lies ahead.
