Young, Competitive Churchill Volleyball Team Eyes Strong Second Half

The Livonia Churchill Varsity Volleyball team is demonstrating significant promise this Fall 2025 season, driven by a youthful roster and growing team chemistry. Led by Head Coach Amanda Rybak, the Chargers currently hold a respectable 3–2 conference record.

Coach Rybak noted that the team is "a young but competitive group this year," emphasizing that the players are "really starting to click" as they head into the latter half of the schedule. The team’s overall record stands at 5-8-1, with a strong 4-1-1 showing in league play, placing them second in the KLAA East Division standings as of early October.

Charger Leaders Shine on the Court

Despite being a squad with only two seniors, several underclassmen are stepping up to lead the team statistically and vocally:

• Sophomore Olive Rivera has established herself as the primary offensive threat, leading the team with 95 kills.
• The freshman duo of Lauren Lowry and Denise Molitor are proving dominant at the net, combining for 39 blocks.

Junior Anna Griese has been lauded as an invaluable "all-around utility player and vocal leader". She recently achieved an impressive milestone, reaching 500 career digs, and has totaled 29 service aces, 44 kills, 137 digs, and 17 assists so far this season.

Focus on Consistency and Future Growth

The rapid development of the squad is exciting for the program's long-term future. Coach Rybak expressed excitement at seeing how quickly "this group is growing and coming together".

The Chargers are now focused on "continuing to build consistency and confidence" in their performance as they navigate the remainder of the season, which includes a highly anticipated match against cross-town rival Livonia Franklin on October 14th.
