Livonia Events Highlight Community and Local Fun
Livonia is bustling with a mix of community meetings, educational programs, and family-friendly fun from August 18-22. On Monday, August 18, the city will hold both its Law and Education Committee Meeting and the Economic Development, Strategic Planning and Technology Committee Meeting at Livonia City Hall.
Mid-week offers a variety of engaging activities. On Tuesday, August 19, you can expand your culinary knowledge at the Farm to Fork- The Power of Local Food: Why It Matters lecture at the Alexander Blue House. That same evening, local musicians can take the stage at Open Stage at Trinity House Theatre. Wednesday, August 20, is for nature lovers, with the Birds of Prey! program at Greenmead Historical Park offering a hands-on look at majestic raptors.
The week concludes with a focus on relaxation and summer enjoyment. Friday, August 22, is a special day for seniors with the $1 Senior Ice Cream Socials at the Civic Park Senior Center. Later that evening, families can gather for the popular S'mores and Stories series at the Newburg Schoolhouse, complete with crafts, games, and a campfire.
Metro Detroit Heats Up with Major Concerts and Festivals
The wider Metro Detroit area is packed with large-scale events, from a star-studded concert lineup to diverse festivals. Music fans have plenty to choose from on Friday, August 22, with country star Hardy at Pine Knob Music Theatre, the legendary Nine Inch Nails at Little Caesars Arena, and R&B artist Maxwell performing at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. On Thursday, August 21, The Fillmore Detroit hosts a show with Greensky Bluegrass.
Beyond music, sports and other events are taking center stage. The Detroit Tigers are in action at Comerica Park for a series against the Houston Astros from August 18-20.
