LIVONIA10/4/2025

The Livonia Stevenson Varsity Boys Soccer team has achieved its first major objective for the 2025 season: clinching the Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) Championship. The Spartans earned the title after defeating rival Northville at home in the championship match, marking a successful end to their league campaign and securing significant hardware.

With the KLAA banner now raised, the team focuses its attention entirely on the high-stakes MHSAA State Playoffs, a tournament where their strong regular-season performance makes them a team to watch.

Season Summary: Dominance and Resilience

Stevenson’s season record stands at an impressive 16 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie (16-1-1) heading into the state tournament.

A Look at the Season So Far:

  • Goals Against Average: The team's defining characteristic has been its defense. Through 17 games, the backline and goalkeeper have allowed only 6 goals total, maintaining a superb **0.35 Goals Against Average**.
  • Shutout Record: This defensive effort has resulted in a spectacular **12 shutouts**, demonstrating their consistency in keeping opponents off the score sheet.

The Season's Sole Loss and Redemption

The Spartans' only setback of the season came early against Northville, a tough 0-1 loss on September 9th. This result was the only time all season the team was shut out. However, Stevenson displayed impressive resilience and determination in the KLAA Championship rematch against the same Northville squad, securing the league title with a definitive 2-1 victory on October 1st. This win cemented their dominance in the KLAA conference.

The offensive output has been consistently driven by senior center midfielder Will Brukoff. His consistent ability to both score and create opportunities has been central to the Spartans’ success.

As of September 30th, Brukoff's key statistics were:
