A Week of Thanksgiving, Tunes, and Civic Duty: What's Happening in Livonia, Nov 24-28

LIVONIA11/23/2025

As the holiday season begins and Thanksgiving approaches, Livonia offers a mix of civic engagement, local commerce, and festive community activities from November 24th through the 28th. While the city pauses to celebrate the holiday, residents still have plenty of opportunities to connect, shop local, and engage with city government.

Civic Engagement and Holiday Cheer

The week kicks off with important city business on Monday, November 24th, as the Arts Commission Meeting is held at the Jack E. Kirksey Recreation Center from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. This is a regular public meeting where residents can learn about the city’s artistic and cultural initiatives.

The Kirksey Recreation Center is also the home base for one of the city's most beloved seasonal traditions: Santa's Mailbox Drop-off. Families can drop off their letters to Santa all week long (Nov 24–28) to ensure a response before Christmas.

As expected, City Offices Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday on both Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th, at Livonia City Hall. Residents should be aware of these closures when planning city business.

Local Business and Entertainment

For new and expecting parents, Trinity Health Livonia is offering a Family Birth Center Tour on Monday, November 24th, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, providing a public look at the Miracle of Life Birth Center (registration is typically required).

On Tuesday, November 25th, the local business scene is active with various Local Business / Ribbon Cutting Events hosted by the Livonia-Westland Chamber and other groups. Residents are encouraged to check the Chamber calendar for times and locations to support new ventures.

Leading into the holiday itself, Wednesday, November 26th is known as "Thanksgiving Eve," and the Tin Cup Bar & Grill will host the Dale Hicks Band for a live music performance starting around 7:00 PM.

Finally, the holiday weekend begins the focus on local commerce with the kick-off of Small Business Saturday / Local Vendor Pop-ups. Starting on Friday, November 28th, and continuing through the weekend, various community centers and local spaces will host holiday shopping events and vendor markets, offering unique goods and supporting Livonia’s entrepreneurs.
