In many high school sports programs, success is measured solely by the trophies in the case. But for Coach Kimberly Clark and the Livonia Churchill Pom-Pon team, the true victory this season is being measured in character, chemistry, and a "growth mindset" that starts long before the music begins.
With a roster featuring only three upperclassmen, this season could have been a quiet one. Instead, it has become a masterclass in leadership and development.
A Season of Stepping Up
Coach Clark has watched a unique dynamic unfold this year: the rare balance of veteran wisdom meeting youthful ambition. While the three upperclassmen have provided the roadmap, the younger athletes haven't just followed—they’ve led.
"It’s been a great season for not only the upperclassmen to help guide the new girls but also for some of the underclassmen to step up and learn great leadership skills," Clark noted.

At the center of this transformation is senior captain Katie Wong. As a four-year varsity member, Wong represents the "gold standard" of the program.
"Katie really stood out this year as an amazing leader, teammate, and role model," says Coach Clark. "She truly exemplifies what sticking with a sport can do."

"I can honestly say in all of my years coaching, this is the most bonded team," Clark shared. "They really all stick up for each other and want to see their teammates succeed."
